“NFT Showroom / Room of One’s Own”: a digital interview with Ilit Azoulay

March 4, 2022
Join us tomorrow, March 4th at 4 pm (CET) for the second edition of the digital interview series with artist Ilit Azoulay “NFT Showroom / Room of One’s Own”, organized by Galerie Rudiger Schottle in Munich. The talk will take place online via zoom.
Ilit Azoulay’s work is featured in the online exhibition titled “Room of One’s Own”, which refers to Virginia Wolf’s book that became a standard reading of the women’s movement since the 1970s. Her novel is still relevant today, as it opens up a universal discussion about women’s right to space for creation, for stillness, and of course, for art.
“Ilit Azoulay reconstructs histories and rethinks the way we narrate them outside of mainstream discourses. Dislocated images as well as undermined perspectives and narratives merge into a comprehensive, versatile and sensitive body of work. Through her central medium – research-based photography – the artist meticulously creates multi-perspective, high-resolution macro photographs of selected objects and digitally arranges them into composite images that feel simultaneously astoundingly realistic and wholly surreal in their composition. As if naturally, they elude any linear narration and instead offer a non-hierarchical perspective of reception that rethinks conventional habits of experiencing, thinking and seeing; as is also the case in the work “Room #8””.
Ilit Azoulay will represent Israel in this year’s 59th edition of the Venice Biennale.
