Ronit Baranga will exhibit “The Cake” in the Eretz Israel Museum as part of the 2020 Crafts and Design Biennale. On display from March 2020 to June 2021. From the exhibition catalog: “Ronit Baranga’s hyper-realistic sculpture depicts two naked female savages examining a frosted cake topped by threatening mouths. Coveted and menacing at the same time, the cake in an object consumed or, perhaps, consuming itself. This encounter between impulse and reason, between fear and desire, transforms a seemingly naïve situation into a surreal composition, while undermining prevalent thought structures and giving rise to new forms of rationality.”
