“Homecoming Artist (Dresden)” by Shahar Marcus featured in CICA

May 27, 2020

Shahar Marcus’s work Homecoming Artist (Dresden) (2017) followed his work Homecoming Artist performed in his hometowm in Israel, almost a decade prior.

In Homecoming Artist (Dresden) The artist appears in riding through the city of Dresden waving to the people of the city as if he is a known figure, cleberity, or politician. While none of his local audience seems to know or crae about the persona in the car, the drive implicates the gap between the art scene and the common citizen in small towns.

The Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) was established in 1994 and became a unique cultural space founded and cultivated by artists known for fostering experimental projects.

Marcus’ work is on view as part of Experimental Film and Video 2020
