Mark Yashaev work is included in “Why I Do Not Paint Vegetables”, a group show curated by Hagar Ban, on view at Kfar Saba Municipal Gallery until May 11, 2022.
In the history of Western art, painting and photography have long been considered tools for documenting existing reality, related to concepts such as truth, existence and proof. The artists participating in the exhibition do the complete opposite: they seek to document objects that they themselves produce, or those that have been subjected to a variety of material and visual manipulations until they have become something new.
Mark Yashaev’s work presents a sculptural construction of common objects, which he built next to one of the walls of the studio. Not documented in the original location on the street, they are collected in the studio, and organized there into a planned geometric stack, inspired by the Russian constructivist tradition on the one hand, and to Paul Klee’s ‘Angelus Novus’ on the other.
On Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 am do not miss the Gallery talk and catalog launch.
