Ruth Patir, Petach Tikva, 2020, part of NonFinito exhibition, ArtPort
Marking the end of a year-long art residency at Artport Tel Aviv, Ruth Patir will show her latest video work, alongside fellow resident artists, in the annual group exhibition Non Finito hosted by Artport. In Petach Tikva, Patir observes the occurring circumstances set in a waiting room of the fertility clinic at the hospital in Petach Tikvah, wherein 3000-year-old figurines, Canaanite fertility deities, fill the room. The waiting figurines belong to the Israel Museum’s archaeology collection, and have been placed by the artist in a fictional scene in the contemporary reality of August 2020. As they wait their turn and ponder their discharge, wild animals concurrently invade the metropolis and begin to operate within the major cities as they please.
NonFinito opens Friday August 21, 2020.
