Blurring Boundaries: Group Exhibition | Burst: Roy Efrat at the Salon

September 19th — November 21st

‘Blurring Boundaries’ is a compelling group exhibition that marks the opening of Braverman Gallery’s new exhibition season. The participating artists examine the delicate movement between inner worlds and outer environments. The exhibition features works by Melanie Siegel (Munich), Uri Kloss (Kibbutz Hasolelim), Markus Muntean & Adi Rosenblum (Vienna), Dale Lewis (London), and Amir Fattal (Berlin), each bringing a unique perspective to the theme of the interface between the natural and the human, the artificial and the organic.

In ‘Burst’, Roy Efrat explores intimacy, blockage, and emotional outbursts through painting. Inspired by the concept of sudden release and transformation, these works capture emotions and interactions during times of social disruption and isolation. The paintings depict male dancers in dynamic motion, embodying the intensity of physical contact and the pushing of boundaries. These figures demonstrate how to navigate and redefine closeness, turning stagnation into connection and personal expression in moments of uncertainty. By merging the energy of movement with the constraints of space, the outburst confronts the complexities and challenges of limitation, illustrating their transcendence through color and texture. Roy Efrat has been living in Berlin in recent years. In October 2023, he was informed of the death of his partner’s mother in Be’eri. The series of works presented was created following these events. The exhibition also features the work ‘Deadlock,’ a video projection on a painting that was showcased at the Be’eri Gallery in 2016. The video ends with a scene where the gallery is burning, as if it was a self-fulfilling  prophecy of the horrific events of October 7th.
