Braverman Gallery is participating to Artissima 2017 with works by artists:

Nira Pereg (Tel-Aviv, Israel 1969). In the video “Francis”, Pereg examines concepts of humility and devotion of one’s life to the love of God through modesty and civility. The image of Saint Francis of Assisi is embodied by a street artist, a Romanian immigrant who cares for the many pigeons on the banks of the Thames in London. In return these Pigeons follow him devotionally, thus reassuring his daily bread.

Mark Yashaev (Baku, Azerbaijan, 1981) documents spaces that subvert the fundamental concepts of photography: time, the two-dimensional, light and the presence of the object. His twofold work process involves building an installation, photographing it, printing and re- installing. Both dimensions (the photographed and the physical) merge to create one layered photograph, a narrative that constructs and deconstructs forever, resulting in an evasive image.

Summer Wheat (Oklahoma City, OK, 1977). The title “Noble Metal” refers to metals that resist corrosion and oxidation, and serves as the conceptual backbone to the fictitious world that Wheat creates in her work. In the “tapestries,” the artist imagines a group of women in a primal landscape. These women use metals in their everyday lives, in ritual ceremonies or cast as tools, jewelry or objects. The artist carefully considers the objects that the characters use daily: hairbrushes, drinking vessels, bowls and coins, featured in both the tapestries and sculptures. The noble metal serves as a metaphor for the strength of this community of women.
