Uri Nir’s large-scale installations incorporate organic matter, constructed objects, video and photography. Instilling a sense of ambiguity between the art object and its location, Nir’s work provokes a feeling of dislocation. His work explores the way that ‘form is determined by matter’, a fascination that leads to projects that seemingly submerge the exhibition space with layers and piles of shifting, borderless materials, such as sand. In these alternative, almost intangible landscapes, Nir’s pieces investigate the rippling effect of a disturbed aesthetic.
