Braverman Gallery Presents

Jacob Mishori, David Adika, Nira Pereg, Uri Nir, Reuven Israel

September 9 - November 4, 2011

Braverman Gallery cordially invites you to the opening of a group show of five gallery artists: Reuven Israel, Jacob Mishori, Uri Nir, David Adika and Nira Pereg. The majority of the works were never shown before.

Nira Pereg’s work NO WIND shot in San Diego USA 2011, presents a unique phenomenon of human billboards. In relevance to Pereg’s previous works, this project was shot while observing the urban space and re-examining a format borrowed from the language of protest to that of advertisement, thus constructing a choreography that bears both poetic and political meaning.
Uri Nir’s sound installation comprised of 4 clay casts and painted public telephones. The unique harmony that comes out of the phone speaker echoes against a reminder of past communication, or foreigners speaking in their mother-tongues with distant homes overseas.
In David Adika’s Mix&Match series of paired images taken in Paris, he continues his pursuit of creating a new unique cultural and personal lexicon via editing the given reality into generating a new visual space.
Jacob Mishori shows a painting taken from the urban advertising world of billboards – a peeling bulletin board. Revealed through the layers of paint is an inscription which echoes different reality and past memories.
Juicy Lucy by Reuven Israel is assembled from two yellow elongated bodies stacked on one another. The work invites the viewer to approach and spin it, a move which exposes the inner veneered part of the object. The submarined sculpture transforms into open radar that does not point to any path or direction.
