CHAPTERS | Uri Kloss

The act of soldering the images of artificial intelligence is done differently from the image done by a human hand; the operation is complete, continuous, lacking fragmentation. Starting from this perspective, Kloss’ aims to represent the details that are not visible to our eyes, such as the way a computer “thinks” or “observes”. What appears to be disassembled in a painting can be seen as a whole in the digital sphere. Kloss’ work expresses the barrier between him and the ever-changing reality, which is influenced by digital developments such as artificial intelligence. Coming out of the inability to grasp reality, his work seeks to stop and capture within it a moment, “like a tear that froze in time”.

During the process of creating, Kloss observes a given object, and transforms it through  digitization processes until it detaches from its main and functional meaning. He explores the tension between being dismantled and paying by splitting the forms into a new image that resonates with the worlds of Cubism. Kloss’s first solo exhibition at Braverman Gallery displays  oil and acrylic paintings on canvas, depicting the same moments of replication and disassembly of both amorphous and everyday images.

Uri Kloss was born in 1993 in Israel. He lives and works in Kibbutz Hasolelim. He has graduated from the Art Department at the Bezalel Academy of Design and Art (2021), and he is winner of the Hecht Museum Young Artist Award for 2011. His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, such as: MS2 Museum of Art in Lodge Poland (2019), AMP Gallery in London, England (2019), and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Denmark (2019), and FIX19, Belfast Art Biennale, Ireland (2019).
