Anna Yam

April 30 - June 18, 2009

22:22

Braverman Gallery is pleased to invite to the opening of Anna Yam’s new solo exhibition, 22:22.

Anna Yam creates a world of in-between places and gaps through her photographs. She navigates chaos and stillness, the familiar and unfamiliar and, perhaps most crucially, belonging and being set apart. Yam uses wit and humor as a bulwark against the harsher realities of alienation and transplantation; soothing the viewer with extreme beauty, while presenting images that are both alluring and, at times, disarmingly foreign and fetishistic.
Maya Benton

Anna Yam is a graduate of the MFA program at Bezalel, Tel Aviv, and has an honors undergraduate degree from the Midrasha College. In 2007 she won the Tel Aviv Museum Morasha Prize. Yam has participated in group exhibition in Berman, Germany; Paris, France; and Italy. Her national exhibitions include the Haifa Museum of Art, MOBY (Bat Yam) and a previous solo exhibition at Braverman Gallery, Tel Aviv.

The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue including essays by Yair Garbuz and Maya Benton, curator at the ICP (International Center of Photography), New York.

Opening: Thursday, April 30th, 2009, 8pm
