Yuzheng Chen (b. 1977 Suzhou, China;Lives and works in Berlin) deals with the relationship between the art system, consumer culture, and the image of artists. Artists, as integral elements of this system, are influenced and shaped by it. Through the use of diverse media such as painting, drawing, video, writing, and improvised strategies, an analysis and reflection of this topic are undertaken. While definitive answers may be elusive, the working process raises suspicions about the status and identity of the “artist,” revealing a potential entrapment in an inevitable dilemma.
Chen Studied Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) with Karl Horst Hödicke, including a Meisterschüler degree (2001-2006).
