In her highly textured paintings, Tal Mazliach (b. 1961, Israel) manipulates oil paint to create canvases resembling quilted fabric. Working across a range of subject matter and styles, from abstraction to dreamlike figuration, Mazliach evokes a fragmented narrative of politics and history. Her paintings are richly detailed and intensely saturated in her signature earthy palette of greens and golds, creating the imStoriesion of total environments. She borrows heavily from the natural world, creating strange landscapes with familiar, yet surreal organic forms, merging the natural and the synthetic. Mazliach’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout her native Israel, at institutions including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Herzliya Museum, and internationally.
