Shira Ben Eliyahu (b. 1998) works with painting, drawing, sculpture and printing. She examines the relationships between light and obscurity, humor and darkness, weight and lightness. Her works relate to life and death, body in space, mysticism and theatricality. The range of topics shown in her practice investigate different contemporary issues, from politics, to spirituality and religion. Her paintings represent hybrid creatures, fluttering to the animal and human world, through a gothic, mystical and theatrical occurrence. Expressive brushstrokes invite the imagination to create a character and a scene, in mysterious atmosphere.
Ben Eliyahu lives and works in Jerusalem.
She received her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 2021.
