Amit Berlowitz’s photography searches for beauty that is born of contradictions between the exalted and the wretched. Sometimes awkward or confusing, her work attempts to illustrate something unresolved. Her use of beauty serves to portray a sense of alienation, attempting to capture the girl she wants to look like, or where she longs to be. Berlowitz’s process is both whimsical and visceral, her work exploring and exposing each subject’s maturation together with their fantasy.
