Ilit Azoulay, residency and forthcoming solo exhibition, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin

July 1, 2013

As part of a collaboration between The Shpilman Institute for Photography, Schir Foundation and KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, Ilit Azoulay has been invited for a six-month residency program in Berlin and a solo exhibition at KW.

From the arguments of the curators: “Ilit Azoulay’s work engages in investigating the values of preservation and destruction, exposure and coverage, testimony and memory. She perpetuated “the soon to be demolished” buildings with her camera and rebuilt it again through models that are being assembled in the studio and on the computer screen. The opportunity to examine these values in Berlin today as a historical city that regenerates rapidly seems critical and significant in the context of Ilit Azoulay’s works.”
