Jacob Mishori (b. 1952, Israel) lives and works in Tel Aviv and has exhibited for 40 years. Mishori is an autodidact who has taught at Basis School for Arts and Culture in Herzliya, Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, and the Midrasha College in Kfar Saba, and previously headed the Department for Fine Art at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv. His career evolved from an endless maze of varied techniques, great knowledge, and conflicting emotions. Mishori’s painting and drawing practice can be described as self-reflective in the most extreme aesthetic. His work feeds on consistent and critical observations of his surroundings, and his tireless perusals of printed manifestations of common visual material, which he uses to investigate, mock, reject, accept and obscure accepted visual language and cliches.
